Camping & Glamping chester
Kings Acre is a certified campsite and part of the The Freedom Camping Club, a Natural England exempt organisation. We have set aside a meadow here at Kings Acre to be a relaxing and peaceful campsite, where you can either sleep under canvas in one of our luxury furnished 5 m bell tents, one of our unfurnished lakeside bell tents or bring your own tent to pitch up. The campsite is open to guests from May to September.
We have three luxury furnished bell tents to hire. Each bell tent is secluded by woven living willow walls and looks out on to the neighbouring fields and the Welsh mountains. Each luxury bell tent sleeps up to four guests and includes a double bed, two single futon bed chairs, bedside tables, a low level indian hand painted table, flooring, LED battery lighting and a lantern. Outside each bell tent has a table and chairs and a firepit with barbecue grill.
During the summer holidays we also have two empty bell tents situated next to the lake, so if you fancy camping but not the hassle of putting the tent up then these are for you.
We have additional bell tents to hire so if you are a larger group and organising a family or friends gathering, please get in touch for more information. Exclusive campsite hire is also available.
Bring Your Own Tent
Bring your own grass tent pitches are also available. These pitches are located in the meadow adjacent to the bell tents and are close to the facilities. We are allowed up to twenty tents in our field however we often cap the number at 6 as we want every guest to enjoy Kings Acre and the space on offer without feeling cramped and overlooked.
Campsite facilities include a mobile toilet block, hot showers, drinking water stand pipe, camp kitchen (with fridge, freezer, washing up sink), communal campfire and barbecue area and car park. Please note there is no parking available next to tents but guests are allowed access to drop off belongings.
The Location and Surrounding Attractions
Kings Acre is a family run small holding, situated down a private lane in the small village of Saughall, Cheshire. Saughall is located on the outskirts of Chester on the Welsh border. The grounds surrounding the campsite run to twenty acres and were historically part of the King’s Forest.
There are numerous footpaths in the area, and the owner has a small lake in the grounds with its very own bar which is open at certain times of the year.
Just four miles away from Kings Acre is the Roman city of Chester.
Enjoy the city’s superb selection of shops, bars and restaurants, visit the racecourse, or walk around the city walls and along the River Dee.
Chester Zoo is world-renowned and makes for a wonderful day out for all ages; or you may wish to head up the Wirral Peninsular where you can find quaint villages, sandy beaches and a superb selection of golf courses, including Hoylake which was the venue for The Open in 2014.
Just a short drive will take you into North Wales where you can explore traditional seaside resorts, historic castles and the Snowdonia National Park.
